Manhattan College Institute in Water Pollution Control 2023: 4-day Professional Short Courses (28 RTCs/PDHs/CEUs)
Course Description: This short course will focus on the advanced treatment of wastewater and residuals, including the implementation and operation of new technologies and the treatment of emerging contaminants. Many municipalities are transitioning from the traditional wastewater treatment plant operation to become Water Resource Recovery Facilities (WRRF). This course will discuss new and emerging the technologies that are being used to successfully achieve: 1) sustainable nutrient removal; 2) improved energy efficiency and on-site production; 3) high quality biosolids; and 4) high quality reusable water. The course will use a combination of process optimization approaches, descriptions of new and emerging technologies, case-studies, and real-world examples to demonstrate the multitude of options available to WRRFs aiming to reduce costs, improve operations, increase revenue and become more sustainable while meeting increasingly stringent permit requirements. In addition, the course will review new and emerging contaminants that impact wastewater treatment, water reuse and biosolids reuse. The course is ideal for WRRF operators, process engineers, design engineers, and environmental professionals working in water treatment, water reuse, renewable energy, water quality, environmental management and environmental science. This four-day course will be taught by leaders and experts from private industry, environmental/energy consulting, municipalities, NGO and government agencies.
